
WILHELM VON HEYDEBRAND (1888-1970) – ANTHROPOSOPHICAL MOVEMENT
Mystical scene with two saints and an angel, 1948 and 1950
Decorative panel.
Copper plate with polychrome and translucent enamel decor.
The panel is set in an anthroposophical frame made of oak carved with a gouge to evoke the movement of waves.
Bears a later label with the inscription Im auftrage von Elisabeth Gygax schuf dies bild Wilhelm von Heydebrand – Dornach 1950 – June 19, 1919 - 19 Februar 1988 (Commissioned by Elisabeth Gygax, this work was created by Wilhelm von Heydebrand - June 19, 1919 – February 19, 1988)on the front, top left.
The oak frame is dated 1948 and bears the monogram EG (possibly referring to Elisabeth Gygax), engraved on the reverse.
It also bears a label Eigentum Elisabeth Gygax (Property of Elisabeth Gygax) on the back.

History:
Wilhelm von Heydebrand is believed to have created the enameled decoration, dated 1950, to suit the setting, and not the other way around.
